Organizational Process Assets

PMBOK 4 describes Organizational Process Assets in one sentence:

Organizational process assets include any or all process-related assets, from any or all of the organizations involved in the project that can be used to influence the project’s success.

Once again, to easily remember Organizational Process Assets, keep in mind the answers to these WHAT, WHERE, and HOW questions:

WHAT is it?

  • Any or all process-related assets

WHERE does it originate from?

  • Any or all of the organizations involved in the project

HOW does it affect us?

  • Used to influence the project’s success

Rita Mulcahy suggests that the trick in remembering this is, I quote:

Processes, procedures, and historical information

Organizational Process Assets may be grouped into two categories:

  • Processes and Procedures
  • Corporate Knowledge Base
